As coastal sea levels rise and transition our shorelines from terra firma to aqua firma a new typology of coast develops. What will happen to our built infrastructures as our landscapes shift due to increased storm surges and sea level rise? This project explores the value and labor of unbuilding while creating a new infrastructural network. Using Cedric Price’s Thinkbelt as a precedent, this project proposes a Labor Loop that transports goods and materials and produces the labor force needed to sustain this new deconstruction economy. This project critiques monofunctional infrastructure and envisions a future of cross-programming where changing landscapes meld with emergent infrastructures to catalyze new ecologies. Infrastructure inherently generates landscapes, and the ones we have now will soon be flooded.
