How can a city destined for disappearance commemorate the past while addressing the importance of the history of the place? The history of cities is the history of the built environment. Monument City studied the importance of monuments in society and how climate-related disasters call for a proactive approach to their preservation. Research on monuments in Dordrecht illustrated how memory could be captured in the built environment. With increased storm surges and floods,  conserving entire city blocks, was a framework for saving the historic town of Dordrecht, NL.
